Neokastro of Navarino is the most impressive and well-preserved of the Navarino castles. Its construction began in 1573 by the Ottomans after the battle at Nafpaktos. Various conquerors occupied the castle through the centuries. Germans and Italians used it during World War II. The hexagonal shape of its Acropolis inside the walls is characteristic.
